By expanding its corporate headquarters, TeraXion was able to bring all its activities – i.e., administrative functions and industrial production – under the same roof. It also tripled the area of the existing building.

The glulam framework is the signature element of this expansion project. The intrinsic qualities of wood in terms of construction and aesthetics combine to create a unique personality that is visible both inside and in the building shell. The very high resistance of spruce glulam framing members means that the typical 6.25-metre-wide spans between bays could be achieved easily and economically.

The primary and secondary beam systems run perpendicular to one another, thereby serving to integrate the office mechanical systems between both levels of the structural framework.

Engineering wood also afforded opportunities for accomplishing the eaves overhangs. The wood siding also contributes to a composition aimed at achieving a harmonious integration with the existing building.

The value of the glulam structure is $675,000.
